1. Dach&Zéphir, France
Florian Dach and Dimitri Zephir, are two French students at the Ecole Nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Paris. Between 2012 and 2014, still, at school, they exposed in France, in the UK but also in China where they won the 3rd price of the HSBC YDC Young Entrepreneurs Challenge in 2012. In 2014 they won the first prize of the Concours Cinna, in the category “Small furniture” with the project “Rite”.
In 2016, they finished their Master degree at a school with the project “La figure de l’autre” that received the “Congratulation of the jury”. The objective was to represent the 4 major migration waves in France through 4 objects, with a design inspired by that shock of cultures.
In nowadays the 2 designers are still together and still use history, culture, and identity as an inspiration for their projects.
2. Katty Schiebeck, Spain
Katty Schiebeck is born in Uruguay but lives and works in Barcelona in Spain. She started working in the luxury industry without special training in 2011 at only 21 years old. The same year, she launched her blog “Somewhere I would like to live“ in partnership with the photograph Rubén Ortiz. In 2014, her name became international when she published her most iconic project. Passeig de Gràcia, a 440 square-meters flat in Barcelona. Her style? Minimalist and warm. Spanish contemporary with Scandinavian influences. She sees austerity as a form of luxury, as the art galleries with their empty spaces exposed objects with a lot of potentials.
3. Désormeaux & Carrette, France
Damien Carrette and Nathanaël Désormeaux born in 2006 when they enter in first years of Product Design school in Lyon. After a Master in Industrial design at the Strate College.
Both of them experienced London in a different way. Désormeaux paid attention to the Anglo Saxon design and innovation while Carrette came to work for an interior design studio. When they came back they created their own studio and develop the concept of the esthetic technicity. Combining an industrial design to an esthetic appearance. In January 2015, they created the “Knot” chair thanks to two fit arches. The chair is an exhibit in Paris for Maison&Objets and then to Isaloni in Milan. In 2016, they won the Cinna price with the “Paddock” chair and the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris for the scooter “Galoche”.
4. Anastasiya Koshcheeva, Russia
Anastasiya Koshcheeva is born in Russia at Krasnoyarsk a Siberian city. In 2006, she decides to leave Russia for Berlin where she lives and works. Her inspiration comes from the society and the people she meets, she loves the contrasts between textures or colors or skills.
She finished by creating her own brand called MOYA on which one she experiments old Russian handcraft technics with Birch’s bark. The design is minimalist and the inspiration from nature. She uses the natural characteristics of the three to create aesthetics and useful furniture. In 2016, she wins the Berliner Volksbank Grant in applied arts and in 2017 she end 3rd at the Designpreis Brandenburg.
5. KNEIP, Norway
Jorgen Platou Willumsen, 32 years old and Stian Korntved Ruud, 29 years old are two Norwegian designers from Oslo that met at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. They found together with the Design Studio KNEIP that produce small series or unique design products.
The meeting point of their work is art, design, and craftsmanship and they find their inspiration on natural phenomena and the weathering of materials. As a proof, the several series they created like Weathered, Breeze or Seismoscope. In 2015 they are present at the prestigious design fair Maison&Objet, and at the London Design Week. Last year they participate to the Sight Unseen project and create a series of grainy light and dark bricks tables and containers with the New York Studio Vonnegut/Kraft.
