Probably the biggest highlight for Kartell this week has definitely got to be the event The Art Side of Kartell. This is an exhibition conceived by Ferruccio Laviani, the event’s co-curator alongside Rita Selvaggio. The event will be hosted in the Appartamento dei Principi in Milan’s Palazzo Reale open to the public from 10 April to 12 May 2019 to celebrate Kartell’s 70th birthday.

Throughout 11 different rooms, you will have a glimpse into the 50-year history of Kartell. You will be able to find a series of furniture pieces such as The Chair by Emilio Tadini from 1997, Terminal thinking vehicle , a female robot, designed in 1986 by Denis Santachiara, the Re Sole lamp, designed by Gae Aulenti in 1968, among many others.

One of the biggest highlights of this showcase is a tribute to Barbie/Mattel, seen as it’s the doll’s 60th anniversary as well. Visitors will be able to find elements such as the Bourgie lamp, the Charles Ghost stools, the Papyrus chair and the Misses Flower Power maxi vase; next to them, the two Barbie style chairs Louis Ghost and Lou Lou Ghost.

You can also find a couple of special furniture pieces by famous designers and other celebrities like the Bourgie rock lamps by Lenny Kravitz and Pharrell Williams.

In the case of Vitra for Milan Design Week the biggest highlight goes to the 24-hour shoppable installation they will be organizing on Via Durini (in Durini Design District) which will allow visitors to see and purchase Vitra accessories at all hours of the day and night.

People passing by this event during Milan Design Week can buy directly from the animal-themed installation with the use of a QR code, to snap up elements such as the L’Oiseau by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the Eames Elephant or even their most recent addition, the Resting Animals by Swedish design studio Front.

Among many other furniture pieces you can find at this showcase during Milan Design Week we can point to The Vitra Colour and Material Library by Hella Jongerius, the Grand Relax by Antonio Citterio, the Organic and Eames Shell Chairs by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen, the Rookie by Vitra and Konstantin Grcic, Soft Work by Edward Barber and James Osgerby, the Vases Découpages by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and even the Vilindra Sofa also by Hella Jongerius.
