The gramma house look never seemed so style(ish). Meet Max Rollitt the antique dealer, interior designer, and bespoke furniture maker. Rollitt is one of a small band of influential dealer-decorators whose style is instantly recognizable. Matching classical elegance with rich textures, and joyful color with old vibes. An overarching sense of comfort. Surely the best choice for that country house renovation.
Before working as an interior designer or designed his own furniture, he was an antique dealer for many years and he is passionate about patina and proportion. The pieces of furniture and objects he chooses bear their history with pride, they are not over-polished or brutally resurface. In his hand’s homes which have been unsympathetically modernized are handed back their history, their architecture is unmasked and embraced.
His Hampshire showroom – the Emporium – houses all three strands of the business, and welcomes visitors on a by-appointment basis.
Max Rollitt has run his own shop since 1993. In 2006 he started walking alone by taking on decorating projects. Now he counts with an amazing team of 12.
His enduring love for classical rooms and deep visual poetry made him one of the most requested designers of his style. Besides the effortless looks, they are far from clinical or overdone. When a room is completed it feels like it has slowly evolved over many years. Max has a sensibility to approach the best interests of the homeowners he works with. His spontaneous use of antiques ensures his projects always have character.
