Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi – Takagi & Homstvedt

A friendship that turns into a partnership for life. Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi have been friends for years, and everything starts when back in 2011 when both crossed paths in the Salone Sattelite. The friendships came first between biking and beer, and the passion for design dictate the future.


In 2013 the friends were running their own studios, one in Oslo and the other in Washington DC. The difficulties about management were high. Both shared the same ideas and approach towards style and aesthetic ideas. So the biggest idea came in, Hallgeir Homstvedt and Jonah Takagi are now one. The collaboration sprang from very practical consideration, introducing Homstvedt and Takagi.

Hallgeir and Jonah decided that by working together they could pitch ideas and proposals to both European and American brands through their respective contacts.

The new brand

Skype and Dropbox were their allies back in 2014, working remotely from opposite corners of the world that was the best solutions so they began soliciting briefs and submitting proposals.

LAMELLA for LE KLINT is the second product to have launched and marks their first collaboration with a European brand.

Hallgeir Homstvedt holds a BA in Industrial Design from Newcastle University in Australia. After completing his degree in 2006, Hallgeir went on to work for the much-celebrated design studio Norway Says before opening his own design studio in 2009. Hallgeir has exhibited his work in London, Tokyo, Oslo, New York & Milan. Among his clients are renowned Norwegian and international furniture manufacturers like Lexon, Muuto, L.K.Hjelle and Established & Sons.

Jonah Takagi received a BFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002. After several years of life on the road as a touring musician, Jonah launched his studio in 2010. He has exhibited work throughout Europe and America and counts among his client’s such esteemed brands as Roll and Hill, Matter, La Chance and Hem.
